2010 Movie #15: Iron Man 2

小花 and I were not planning to watch any movies tonight but just to go for dinner at 和民 at The Central. However, our colleague said he had already bought 2 tickets for "Iron Man 2" for tonight but was unable to make it, so asked if we were interested to watch it. In order not to waste the tickets, 小花 and I decided to watch the movie.

As we did not watch the previous movie, we were a bit lost at the beginning of the show. Moreover, we were sitting just three rows from the front in the GV Max theatre, so the screen was too close to us and I felt a bit dizzy from all the action. Overall, the watching experience wasn't very good, though the show itself wasn't too bad. Think I would have appreciated the show better if I had watched the previous installation.

2010 Movie #14: The Bounty Hunter

Today 小花 and I watched "The Bounty Hunter". Actually we didn't plan to watch this show but there didn't seem to be any other movies that interested us. I was pleasantly surprised that this was a romantic comedy as I was expecting it to be more of an action film from the movie title.

Overall it wasn't as hilarious as "Date Night" but still managed to keep me entertained. Perhaps I'm too easy to please since I'm easily amused by the smallest things :)

MRT delay

This morning I alighted at Outram Park station as usual to take the North-East line to Harbour Front station. I was a bit surprised to find that the MRT was packed to the doors with people but didn't think much about it initially. I thought I would just wait for the next train so I just proceeded further down the platform away from the escalators. The train was not as full there and as it did not show any signs of moving, I decided to just board it. It was only while waiting for the train to move that I realized that something was wrong. However, there were no announcements on the cause of delay, only that the trains will be slightly delayed.

It was getting hot as more and more people packed into the train but I could only wait as I was just one stop away from my destination and thought the delay would be resolved soon. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes before the train finally started moving. When I reached the office, I got to know that a few of my colleagues were also caught in the delay and stuck for more than 45 mins. I think there should have been announcements to inform commuters how long the delay was expected to be, and alternative transportation arranged as well. Hopefully this will not happen again...

2010 Movie #13: Shutter Island

小花 and I watched "Shutter Island" tonight. Initially I was not very keen as I thought it was a "ghost story" but 小花 said it was just a thriller so we decided to go ahead with it.

As I have never read the book before, I find that the plot was rather good as it kept us in suspense till the end. The sound effects and spooky atmosphere also combined to create a tension while watching the movie. Overall a movie worth watching :)

2010 Movie #12: Date Night

小花 and I had watched the trailer for this movie previously so we had already decided to watch this movie when it screens. We knew that this show is a comedy but not sure if it would live up to our expectations. We were not disappointed as we were kept entertained throughout by the hilarious conversations and actions of the characters. At the end of the movie, they even showed the NG scenes which were really funny too. Found the NG scenes on YouTube and still couldn't stop laughing when I re-watched them :)

Farewell lunch

Tomorrow is one of my colleague's last day with the company so we had a farewell lunch for her today. We went to Marche Restaurant at about 12.15 and it was starting to get crowded. Luckily we have made reservations in advance. As the table was too long, we decided to order and share some dishes just among the few of us sitting together. We ordered a rosti, pizza, french onion soup, grilled salmon and salad. The french onion soup tasted ok but was a bit oily. My favorite was the rosti :) Later we also ordered cakes and ice-creams for dessert but the cake that I ate was too sweet.

Yakitate Japan

As Friday was a holiday due to Good Friday, we had a long weekend. I was looking for a new show to watch as the current season of J-dramas has ended and the new season has not started yet. I ended up watching an anime named "Yakitate! Japan". I was interested to watch this anime some time back but couldn't find a source for it then. This anime has 69 episodes and is about the story of a boy who wants to create a Japanese bread. I liked it as it is very light-hearted and the reactions of the judges when they eat the bread are so funny.

Managed to watch 40 episodes over this weekend. So sad that have to go back to work again tomorrow... Hopefully can come home early to continue watching more of the anime :)

April Fool's Day

Tomorrow is Good Friday so it's a holiday :) 小花 and I had wanted to watch "Clash of the Titans" but there were no good seats left as the show for the timing that we wanted was already almost full-house. So we decided to just have dinner instead.

We chose Coffee Club as we know there would not be too many people. As we were not very hungry, we decided to order some snacks to share instead. They also had a promotion where one can get a lifetime membership with a minimum spending of $30 in one receipt. Normally we would have been able to meet this criteria easily but as we only ordered snacks today, we just missed the $30 mark by less than a dollar :\ Too bad...

After the meal, 小花 suggested going to Ben and Jerry for ice-cream but it was packed so we ended up at Haagen Dazs instead. We ordered 3 scoops of ice-cream (Belgium Chocolate, Strawberry and Dark Chocolate Orange) with almond flakes topping. We slowly enjoyed the dessert before heading home :)
