Koshonin 2 Ep 2

So sad that the policeman 甘利 died in this episode. I think it was really weird of their boss to use force against the criminal, without giving them the time to negotiate first. What's even more puzzling was that there was only 1 more gun left to find and yet they were told to withdraw their search. Maybe there's a connection between the top police officers and Summer Claus?? Shall continue watching to find out.

As usual, there was a brief appearance by Shirota.

Not sure if he was trying to act cute here *_*

Amalfi

Today 小花 and I watched our second movie of the week. The movie was set in Italy and the scenery was really breathtaking. I have not been to Italy before and this made me want to visit there some day :) However, Italy seems like a dangerous place to travel free and easy so probably can only go with guided tours.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie as the plot was entertaining. Was also pleasantly surprised that I could recognize quite a number of actors/actresses in the show. There was even an appearance by Sarah Brightman in the movie, singing the song "Time to say Goodbye".

More J-Dramas!

Was looking for the next episode of Tokyo DOGS when I "accidentally" saw another J-drama - Untouchable. I vaguely remembered that Nakama Yukie had a role in this show so just decided to see if it would be worth watching. The first episode was quite interesting, with a mixture of comedy and mystery. So it has also been added to my list of shows to watch for this season :P

Another new addition is JIN-仁. The ratings of the show seemed quite high so decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. I felt that the drama was well-paced and there wasn't any dull moments. I was even moved by some scenes, which brought tears to my eyes. Will definitely continue to watch this drama.

Just to summarize the J-dramas that I'm watching this season:

DayDrama
MonTokyo DOGS
TueLiar Game 2
ThuKoshonin 2
FriUntouchable
SatSamurai High School
SunJIN

Almost 1 drama per day! :P

My Sister's Keeper

小花 and I decided to watch a movie today, partly because we missed one last Friday and we have a few movies that we wanted to watch, and partly because tickets only cost $6.50 on Tuesdays.

Ever since we saw the trailer for "My Sister's Keeper", we have decided that it would be one of the movies to watch. And we were not disappointed by our choice. It was a really touching movie and many scenes made tears well up in my eyes. This movie was rather special as it was from the viewpoints of the different family members. I think this allowed the audience to have a better perspective of how they really feel.

The movie brought up a very good point: Should the parents have "created" Anna to try and save Kate who was sick? It's definitely unfair to Anna, but I think it's also understandable for the parents to want to try all means to cure Kate. I guess there isn't any right or wrong answer, just that the parents should not just focus all their attention on the sick child and neglect the other siblings.

Back home, I did a search and found that although the movie followed the story of the novel quite closely, the ending was totally different. Now I'm interested to read the book so as to compare which ending I like better ;)

Samurai High School Ep 2

One week has gone by quickly and today I watched the second episode of Samurai High School. This was a rather hilarious episode, especially with the "cute and girly" Shirota totally "falling in love" with Haruma.

Guess what was hiding beneath Shirota's hands:

Shirota tried to copy Haruma's ponytail but his hair was too short so it ended up like that XDD

Shirota walked really close to Haruma while carrying Haruma's bag for him.

Look at Shirota's approving smile when Haruma wanted to enter in a competition.

He even volunteered to be Haruma's "horse" in the competition.

Guess Shirota was a bit 心虚 for hogging Haruma and he tried hiding behind Haruma when the main female character (don't know and not interested in knowing her name :P) came.

But that didn't stop Shirota from peeping, even when he was asked to leave them alone for a moment.

Look at Shirota's adoring eyes towards Haruma during the competition.

This whole episode was highly entertaining as it was full of Shirota "expressing his love" for Haruma and I ended up laughing at many of the scenes. However, the below one really topped them all. Don't you think Shirota's expression looked just like a girl who had gone through a lot of suffering and was about to burst into tears?!

Can't wait for the next episode :)

Koshonin 2 Ep 1

The second season of Koshonin has finally aired. It's really interesting to see the negotiators and criminals trying to outwit each other. I'm curious to know who is the person called "Summer Claus". Seems it would only be revealed in the next episode.

Shirota makes his usual 1 to 2 minutes appearance in the show:

His character in this show is totally different to that of Samurai High School. Hopefully he would not mix up the two characters XD

Tokyo DOGS Ep 1

Watched my second new Japanese drama for this week. Although the character played by Oguri Shun looked cool, I found him quite comical, especially when he had to answer phone calls from his mum just before taking action against criminals. On the other hand, the character played by Mizushima Hiro is more rash and impulsive. As both personalities are totally different from each other, it was somewhat fun to see them arguing when they had to work together.

Episode 1 was rather interesting and I felt that this drama was not as "serious" as I had thought, as there were quite a number of amusing scenes throughout. I'm also curious to know the identity of the woman who seemed to have lost her memory, so will look forward to episode 2 next week :)

Samurai High School Ep 1

Tonight I watched the first episode of Samurai High School and found that it was a rather amusing show. Didn't imagine Haruma's character would be so silly... look at how many funny faces he made:

On the other hand, Shirota's character was such a weakling. He is so tall yet was bullied by 3 girls.

When Haruma went to rescue him, he could only hide behind a tree and watch.

He even tried to run away when no one was looking, but in the end fell down after only a few steps ^^|||

Despite the character being so useless, I'm still glad that Shirota finally have a bigger role than usual. At least he would now have more chances to prove himself. 頑張ってください!!

Luck

My uncle won some money in 4D so he treated his family and relatives to dinner at 阿一海鲜. We usually go to 燕阁 for celebrations but this time my uncle decided on a change of venue. The only similar thing between the two restaurants was that both had karaoke systems, as my relatives seem to enjoy singing a lot.

I always had the impression that 阿一海鲜 was a good restaurant, but in the end we were rather disappointed with the quality of the food. The sharks fin soup and red bean paste were too watery, the fish meat was too tough, and the noodles was too salty. My uncle said he would never want to go there again.

I think some people just seem to have all the luck. My uncles have been quite lucky in winning 4D so we have been treated to dinner numerous times over the years. My mum always wish that one day it would be our turn to give a treat instead.

April Bride

小花 and I wanted to watch the movie "April Bride" but it was not showing at VivoCity. We had no choice but to go to the GV at Plaza Singapura instead. Our colleague drove us there after work and we had dinner at Ajisen before the movie.

This movie is based on a true story and is actually very sad, but certain "distractions" in the movie made me feel like laughing instead. For example, when Chie died, I could still see her eyeball roll and her fingers twitch. It was supposed to be a sad scene but I couldn't help but try to suppress my laughter when I saw that.

I felt that certain scenes were too slow-paced, which made the movie a bit draggy. However, overall it was a touching movie as Taro never thought of leaving Chie when he found out she had cancer, and later even decided to marry her although he knew she would only have 1 month left. I think the song in the movie truly captured the undying love Taro had for Chie.

"Some say love it is a river that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed

Some say love it is a hunger, an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower and you it's only seed

It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose."

Upcoming J-Dramas (Part 2)

Continuing from the previous post, below are some more dramas that interest me :)

Liar Game 2
I enjoyed the first season so will definitely catch season 2 as well. Can't wait to watch how the participants battle their wits to try to win the "Liar Game".

Koshonin 2
I started watching the first season mainly because of Shirota (although he only had a minor role in the show). However, the drama turned out to be rather exciting so would not want to miss the second season too. Moreover, Shirota would also appear in this sequel :)

Looking forward to watching these J-dramas soon! \^^/

Upcoming J-Dramas (Part 1)

The new season of J-dramas will be starting soon so went to check out those that I would most probably watch :)

Samurai High School
Looking at the cast list, it seems like Shirota will have a role as the main supporting actor, with Miura Haruma as the main actor. Finally Shirota will have more air-time in a drama instead of just calefare roles!

CM (Miura Haruma)

CM (3 main characters)

Tokyo DOGS
Would be watching this partly due to Mizushima Hiro and Oguri Shun, and partly because it's of the police genre.

Trailer

I almost couldn't recognize Oguri Shun with his short hair as he looked so different. Perhaps it's because my impression of him has remained at the time when he played the role of Sanou in Hana Kimi. In the trailer, I thought he looked like the HK actor 魏俊杰 :P

(To be continued... )

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Have not watched 3D movies for some time so 小花 and I decided to watch one tonight -- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I liked the idea of having an invention that could convert water into any food you like. I really enjoyed the scene where the sky rained ice-cream and the town became an "ice-cream town". Though there won't be such things in real life, it made me want to go to a snow-covered place and play snowballs :)

The scene where Flint's father tried to send an attachment to Flint's handphone was pretty amusing. It reminded me about the time when my mum and her colleagues went for a basic computer course that taught them how to use the mouse. My mum said one colleague tried to drag a file across the desktop but as there was limited space on the table, she dragged the mouse onto the floor haha. I guess for people who have never used a mouse before, it really takes time to get used to it.

Although the 3D glasses were still not very comfortable, I enjoyed this lighthearted and entertaining movie. Hopefully there would be an improvement in the 3D glasses in the near future so that we can have a better time watching the shows.

Another Wedding

Today I attended the wedding dinner of a colleague at Conrad Hotel. There was a bit of a traffic jam but luckily the dinner had not started when we arrived. Looking at the utensils laid on the table as well as the menu, can see that it must have cost quite a bit to hold the wedding here.

The dinner only started at around 9 pm. By then most of my colleagues were already very hungry. Not sure if it was due to this reason or the dish was really nice, the first dish -- Suckling Pig was about the only one that we finished off. It was really a waste of food as we were too full to eat most of the remaining dishes.

The groom and bride went around each table to take photos. However, towards the last few tables, the groom was made to drink glasses of liquor. As he wasn't a seasoned drinker, he got drunk very quickly and had to rest in the hotel room. Poor thing, he should have gotten his "brothers" to help him out a bit.

The dinner only ended around 11.30pm. My colleague dropped me off at Clementi MRT station and I took the train home. Sigh... still have to go to work tomorrow...

CM

Saw Shirota's new CM for Lotte and burst out laughing. He looked so mature and even played the role of a father in the CM haha. It's not that I don't like him to act mature, but I think he looked really weird in the below picture (like some kind of a pervert) :P

Also took the below videos from the official website.

Wedding Lunch

Today my family and I went to Holiday Inn at Havelock Road to attend my cousin's wedding lunch. Before the lunch started, guests were invited to write well wishes on heart-shaped paper that were provided on each table. I thought this was a good idea since the bride and groom would be able to keep them as a memento of their wedding day.

The food was just passable but the portion for each dish was very huge, so we still ended up with a very full stomach. As today was also the Mooncake Festival, we were each given a small snow skin mooncake that was handmade by the couple and their friends. There was also a live band who kept us entertained throughout by singing many different love songs.

This is the memento for each guest - a bottle opener with a cute picture of a wedding couple :)

Surrogates

Today 小花 and I watched our second movie of the week - Surrogates. It was quite interesting as the show gave an insight on how technology might be so developed in the future that people can just use surrogates to go about their daily lives. However, I think it would be very scary if our world progressed to such a state, since you would then never know how the people whom you interact with really look like, as the surrogates are ultimately only machines. It is also ironic that near the end of the movie, people start to come out of their houses only when their surrogates "drop dead". Overall an enjoyable show :)
