Friday Feasts

小花 wanted to buy some things from Daiso so we went to Vivocity for lunch. We were deciding on what to eat for lunch and I suggested having dim sum at Ban Heng restaurant as some colleagues had commented that the food was not bad. We had some difficulty locating the main entrance of the restaurant as we went up from a lobby that was farther from it.

We actually wanted to have the dim sum buffet but it was only available if there was a minimum of 4 people per table, so we ordered a la carte instead. The food was good and we especially liked the carrot cake that the waitress recommended.

After work, we went to Watami at The Star Vista (again!) for dinner as we received vouchers from our last meal there. This was my third time there in just a short week ;) As usual, we had to queue outside the restaurant for a table... Looks like their business is good.

We ended up ordering almost the same food as last Friday. However, we felt that the Mentai Potato Pizza was not as good as the previous time, probably as there was not as much mentai and the crust was not as crisp. The tempura also seemed to be coated with too much flour, but luckily the sweet potato and pumpkin were sweet. Overall we were still satisfied with the food and we liked the big and juicy grilled squid :D

Lunch treat

Today 小花 and Ms Thin treated me to lunch at Ichiban Sushi \^^/  We ordered a set each and added a Mentai Potato Salad to share. They commented that the Saba fish for my set was rather small as compared to that of Umisushi, but I still ended up very full. 小花 said that she now loves food with Mentai ;)

Man U won the match early this morning and will progress to the next round of the Champions League... Yay! :)

It's Wednesday!

Actually wanted to book movie tickets for this Friday but there were no nice shows besides Skyfall, which our company has organized for a free screening on 30 Nov. So we decided to just go for dinner instead.

Before leaving office, I helped 小花 take a few photos for her passport renewal. Usually shops would charge about $10 for 8 passport sized photos, which I think is a waste of money and resource since most people only require 1. After 小花 has emailed me her selected photo, I helped her crop it to the required specifications and changed the background white. Hopefully the photo will not be rejected :)

Man U will be playing Braga in the Champions League later. Hope they will win!

Shoes

This morning my youngest sis was on her way to work when the wedge of her shoes came off. She was so embarrassed but she was already reaching the MRT station, so she just tore away both sides and continued to work.

Ha ha... I can just imagine the scene :D It reminded me of that time when the sole of my sandals gave way, and later even the toe grip came off too. My colleagues and I couldn't stop laughing about it. Guess I was luckier than my sis as I managed to buy another pair of sandals at a shop near our office, while my sis had to wear the shoes with just a thin layer of sole remaining for the whole day :P

Surprise... Early Birthday Present!

Received an early birthday present from 小花 today, though to be more accurate, there are 2 items - a wallet pouch and a bag :)  I was pleasantly surprised when 小花 gave me the present while on our way to work.

小花 was afraid that I would not dare to use the bag due to its striking colour and told me that she could get an exchange at the shop if so. However, I usually don't match the colour of my clothes to my bag so it doesn't really bother me :D

Both items are really useful to me, since my current wallet is giving way soon and I usually change my working bag once a year. Shall use the wallet pouch after my birthday but shall keep the bag for use next year ;)

小花へ ありがとうございます! I will make full use of them \(^v^)/

There goes my Sunday...

Went to my grandma's house this afternoon with my family. Was actually not very keen on going as I know my grandma will ask me the same question again -- "Do you have a boyfriend?" Sure enough, when I said I don't, she nagged at me saying that I am getting old and should start looking for a boyfriend, especially since I'm the eldest and my younger sisters already have boyfriends.

Sigh... I hate to repeat this conversation over and over again whenever I see my grandma. It really gets on my nerves but all I can do is just smile and nod and say that I will try to look for one. I know that actually my grandma is asking out of concern for me but somehow it just makes me feel irritated with the constant "reminders".

After leaving my grandma's house, we decided to go for dinner. I suggested The Star Vista since my parents have not been there yet and they agreed. We ended up at Watami again :P There was a queue outside but not as long as that on Friday night. However, we felt that the staff were really inexperienced as they kept people waiting with their weird "first come first serve" seating arrangements. They seated 2 people at a table for 4, then left a table for 4 empty and waited for a neighboring table for 4 to finish and settle the bill to combine into a table for 6.

We wanted to order the Mentai Potato Pizza but it was sold out :( So we ordered the Wafu Pizza instead. We also ordered the Ebi Tempura Maki, Kaki Fried, Tako Satsumaage, Tempura Moriawase, Hire Katsu Tamago Toji, Hiroshimafu Okonomiyaki, Ishiyaki Sutamina Don and Watami Tonkotsu Ramen. We were all very full and satisfied with the food.

My youngest sis told me she suddenly remembered that she lent my card reader to her boyfriend... :S Anyway, I'm not in the mood to sort out the photos now so shall leave it to another day.

Started watching a J-drama called "花のズボラ飯" (花的懒人料理) and it was quite entertaining. It also teaches how to cook food that is easy to prepare but delicious at the same time. I think the phrase "ズボラ" suits me since I'm lazy so I decided to add it into my blog name :P

Shall continue watching the J-dramas and there goes my Sunday... *sob*

Catching up on J-dramas

This afternoon, I wanted to try sorting out some photos from the Hokkaido/Tokyo trip but couldn't seem to find my card reader. Asked my sisters but both of them said they didn't take it :( In the end, I gave up looking for it and continued watching my J-Dramas and anime instead :P Still have many episodes to watch as missed quite a number during the trip and most of this season's dramas seem interesting.

Yay! Man U won Arsenal 2-1 but I was a bit annoyed that they didn't keep a clean sheet and let Arsenal score right at the very end. They also wasted a few chances to kill off the game earlier. Hope they can perform better next time...

New York

Today we will be having a city tour of New York. Firstly, we went to Battery Park, where we boarded a cruise ship to Liberty Island to view the Statue of Liberty. We had to go through a tight security check (similar to that in airports) before boarding the cruise. Our tour guide gave us some time to take photos of the Statue of Liberty and to have an early lunch at the food court.

After lunch, we took the cruise ship back to Battery Park. We then took a short walk to the nearby Wall Street/New York Stock Exchange/Empire State Building/Trinity Church. We were surprised to find that a portion of the road at Wall Street has been closed off and there were many police on standby. Our guide explained that there was probably a protest/demonstration nearby. True enough, we saw people holding posters and banners on another street while walking back to our coach. Luckily they seemed to have just started so we were able to make our way to our coach without problems.

The coach then drove us to Times Square, where we were given some time to walk around. This is the place where people gathered for New Year countdown. There were many large LCD screens showing various advertisements and I liked a particular one where it interacted with the crowd. After walking around for a while, we went back to the coach and headed to Fifth Ave. This was somewhat similar to Orchard Road, where there were many branded shops. We passed by the Apple store and saw quite a number of people paying tributes to Steve Jobs, who had just passed away the day before. There was also a long queue outside Abercrombie and Fitch and I believe it would be the same when it opens in Singapore later.

After that, we went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. By then, I was feeling rather sleepy, probably because of jet lag (even though I had slept quite a lot :P). We had a quick dinner before returning to the hotel to rest for the night.

U / 刹那 ~ a sandglass of fate ~

Why does Shirota look like 孙协志 in the below video??

Below are the 3 different CD covers for his new single. The second one reminds me of Ichigo in Bleach :P
